HOW IT WORKS

A result to understand, not just read.

MPG increases as efficiency improves, while liters per 100 kilometers decreases. This tool uses the U.S. liquid gallon, not the Imperial gallon.

  • One U.S. liquid gallon equals approximately 3.785 liters.
  • A higher MPG value means better fuel economy.
  • A lower L/100 km value means better fuel economy.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this U.S. MPG or Imperial MPG?+

It is U.S. MPG. Imperial gallons are larger and produce a different MPG value.

Why does a lower L/100 km number mean better mileage?+

Because the value measures how much fuel is consumed over a fixed distance rather than how far the vehicle travels per gallon.
