HOW IT WORKS

A result to understand, not just read.

Calendar age cannot be found by dividing elapsed days by 365 because months and years have different lengths. This calculator subtracts years, months and days in sequence and handles leap years automatically.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the calculator include leap days?+

Yes. The calendar calculation and total-day count automatically include every 29 February crossed by the selected dates.

Can I calculate age on a past or future date?+

Yes, provided the reference date is not earlier than the date of birth.

    RESULT GUIDE

How exact age is calculated between two dates

The method performs calendar subtraction rather than using an average year length, so the result remains meaningful in years, months and days.

    01 · FORMULA

    Calendar method

Age = reference date − date of birth, split into years, months and days

If the reference day is earlier than the birth day, the correct number of days is borrowed from the previous month; the same principle applies to months and years.

    02 · WORKED EXAMPLE

    Worked example

    • date of birth: 15 August 2022
    • reference date: 21 August 2026
Exact age: 4 years, 0 months and 6 days.

The separate total-day result uses actual calendar days, including leap days.

03 · HOW TO READ IT

    How to interpret the result

    • Leave the reference date blank to use today.
    • Total days are useful for mathematical comparisons; calendar age is clearer for birthdays and age-based milestones.
    04 · LIMITS

What the estimate does not include

    • Time of birth and time zones are not included.
    • Administrative age rules may follow a specific law or official definition instead.
