Small habits, big possibilities

Choose activities, costs, and frequency. Compare spending and time over your chosen period, on your own or as a pair.

Reference period

Changing the currency only changes the unit shown; it does not convert amounts. Update the values to match your chosen currency.

Your activities

Start with one example activity. Change it and add more if you wish. Prices, durations, and frequencies are editable; avoiding 0 occasions leaves the activity unchanged.

Activity 1

Occasions you would keep: 5 over the same period.

For this activity, over your chosen period: $156.00 in avoided spending and 0 hours to use elsewhere.

Your reference experience

Enter the total cost you have checked and the time you want to spend on one experience. The starting cost of 500 is only an example; selecting an idea does not change your amounts.

A cost of 0 excludes money; 0 hours excludes time. If you enter both, we also calculate how many experiences fit within both limits.

Towards your goal

Within your chosen period, you could cover 31.2% of the cost of your goal.

The estimated months use an average monthly amount, not the dates of individual payments.

Over one year, your chosen reductions amount to $156.00 in avoided spending and 0 hours to use elsewhere.

A day trip

For one experience: $500.00 · time excluded.

Whole experiences covered by avoided spending

After these experiences, $156.00 of avoided spending would remain.

Money and time counts are separate views: do not add them together. When using both, the lower limit applies. This is a theoretical possibility, not a booked schedule.

The figures describe a scenario, not your worth or personality.

A small step to start with

«A small choice can make room for something that matters to you.»

A worked example

A coffee costing $1.50, bought 7 times a week, costs $10.50 a week. If you skip 2 coffees, you avoid spending $3.00 a week: $156.00 over 52 weeks. Time is counted only if you enter it.

How we calculate it

For each activity, we multiply the price by the frequency and your chosen period. The occasions you want to skip determine the reduction in spending; the minutes you enter determine the time you could use elsewhere. One year is 365 days, 52 weeks or 12 months, depending on your chosen frequency. Time is not converted into money. We do not include inflation or investment returns. Alternatives may have a cost: for example, the cost of a home-cooked meal replacing a delivered meal must be deducted before calling the difference net savings. If activities happen at the same time, avoid counting that time twice.

We divide avoided spending by the cost of one experience, and time to reallocate by its duration. We show whole experiences only, rounding down. With both values, we use the lower count. Prices are the ones you enter; we do not estimate availability, extra costs, or how it fits your schedule.
