A partial pedigree can underestimate COI. Check official records and complete as many generations as possible; the value covers only the ancestors entered.
Pedigree COI measures a probability and does not diagnose health. A 4–5 generation pedigree can produce a lower value than a calculation using all available records; also assess genetic tests, health, temperament and diversity with a veterinarian and breed registry.
